    James H. Wilson, native of Faxon Township and son of pioneer settlers, died at Veterans Hospital, Fort Snelling, at the age of 65. He operated a mortuary in Belle Plaine for 25 years before selling out to Gene Hayes.

    Belle Plaine City Administrator Tony Hallman submitted his letter of resignation to the city council that week. He said he accepted a job with the state of Wisconsin. Hallman had been Belle Plaine’s city administrator for less than a year.

    Belle Plaine’s two new councilmen were Emil Ashauer and Raymond Ahrens. Clarence F. Mueller won another term as mayor and R.J. Effertz, unopposed, continued as borough treasurer.
